3 Gifts for Tired Moms

0

I know what women want, especially sleep-deprived, overextended Scottsdale moms. We want a spa day. We want one hour, or two, or five of uninterrupted, unadulterated quiet time dedicated to feeling whole again. We want … and I would say, need … to power down our smart phones and power up a good nap.

The challenge is the cost. Spa treatments don’t come cheap. An hour treatment at one of our local resort spas hovers around $150 (plus taxes and gratuity, grrrr). So while the occasional spa immersion is a must for you, most of us can’t afford to spring for a spa treatment for all our deserving mom friends and family. Here’s a thoughtgive them a soft, silky nugget of it. I dug up a few things that fit the bill.

Headspace: Silk Pillowcase

Resting your head on a silk pillowcase is the best. And it’s not something most of us would buy for ourselves (although we should, right?). The MYK Silk cases are highly rated and a good  compromise between quality and price. I love that they have a cotton underside. Here’s an idea: Buy any old standard pillow, stuff it into the silk pillowcase, wrap it in a satin ribbon and attach a sweet note: “You are an amazing mom. Now sleep.”

Blackout: Sleep Mask

Speaking of silk, sleep masks are another one of those things you don’t know you need until you have one. A light-blocking mask is great for travel and super handy when you find yourself with a few minutes to nap in the middle of the day. Amazon has a ton of options at every price point. Look for one made of a high quality silk with a silk-covered head strap like the LuluSilk Sleep Eye Mask. Pair the mask up with a set of Dream Decoder Cards, available at Anthropologie, for a subtle reminder that it’s okay to sleep … and dream.

Good Scents: Diffuser

The scent of a spa is only a drop of lavender oil away and a mini diffuser brings that home. The SpaRoom PureMist Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser at Target is a solid choice. Pair it with a 100% pure lavender oil (Whole Foods or Sprouts have great options) or even better, the Woolzies Deep Sleep Essential Oil set. Again attaching a personal note makes it even better: “Sweet Dreams Momma,” maybe?

If you want to go all out for someone, you could arrange all or a couple of these finds in a pretty basket and even throw in a super soft throw blanket. What a great hostess or teacher gift.

A final quick note—this is my very first post for Scottsdale Moms Blog and I couldn’t be any more excited to join their team of smart, insightful moms. I told the editor I was looking to spread my wings beyond my scope of spas and beauty. Well, baby steps. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and hope you’ll share your own thoughts and insights along the way.
