Shoott – Mom Forgot to Take a Family Picture!

Thank you to Shoott for sponsoring this post.

The story of my life is that I always forget to do stuff, like take a family picture.  Then around November when the rest of the world who got their act together in plenty of time are all ordering their Christmas cards, I’m digging through Facebook for just one good one that I can use.  Sure, I can find a good one of the kids, a good one of me, a good picture of my husband and the kids, but not one of all of us except for the one from Easter.

When I discovered Shoott, I thought, “Oh my gosh, this is the BEST!”

From the Shoott website, you can choose from several different event locations, dates and times that are available around Scottsdale & Phoenix.  Then you just book your FREE 30-minute photography session.  A photographer is assigned to you and will reach out to confirm your booking.  On the day of the shoot, you meet with your photographer and they will guide you through your session.

We had such a great experience with our photographer, Ali.  She texted me the address of the location we were meeting and stayed in touch with us throughout the week leading up to the shoot.  We met by the LOVE sign at the Scottsdale Civic Center but because of the construction around the sign, and the time of day, we couldn’t really get any good pictures there.  Thankfully, Ali had scoped out the area and knew some really great spots for us to go.  Wouldn’t you just know that my seven-year-old wore his cranky pants that day and was being quite uncooperative, but she was so gracious and the pictures that she took of him turned out fantastic. She was so nice easy to work with that I would absolutely work with her again.

At the time of booking, I was asked to fill out a question box about the kind of shoot I wanted.  For example, I said that I was doing family pictures, but I could have said anything from personal lifestyle, kids/infants, fitness, business/headshots, pets, or even social media pictures for that perfect Instagram square.

My photos were lightly edited by Ali and a gallery was created for me to access.  I wasn’t under obligation to purchase any 40+ photos in the gallery, but I could choose any picture for $15 or $120 for any 10 or $220 for all 40+.  I think this is a super affordable way to get a really great professional family picture and not have to invest a lot of money to do it.  I also thought that if I’m on a vacation in any of the other cities where Shoott is offered (NYC, San Diego, and places in between) that booking a session would be a cool way to commemorate that trip.  And of course, if you’re like me, Shoott is perfect for when you didn’t get your life together enough in advance to book a traditional photography session to get that perfect family Christmas card picture.
