Help A Phoenix Family During This Season of Giving

0

Do you know of a family in need or crisis as we enter the holiday season? Nominate them today and help make the holidays a little brighter by partnering with Trusting Connections in their seventh annual Help-A-Home holiday charity program.

Whether financial or emotional help, identify a family in need that could benefit from a holiday gift basket containing a gift card valid toward Trusting Connections’ nanny, sitter and personal assistant services as well as special gifts, age-appropriate clothes/toy and gift cards to local grocery stores, retailers, spas and family activity locations.  The gifts will all be tailored to the recipient family’s unique needs and circumstances.

Trusting Connections’ leadership recognizes that families face a multitude of stressors and welcomes nominations that address the various emotional needs that also go unmet this time of year. For families experiencing things like a life-threatening illness, a significant loss or death or for those fleeing abusive situations, it is critical for the emotional well-being of families and children to be considered and met as well.

To nominate a family today simply fill out the nomination form here.  Nominations are due Nov. 25. Final selections will be made on Nov. 27.  The Phoenix community is also invited to participate by making a financial or in-kind donation in support of the program. To pledge please fill out this form.

As you consider other ways you can help cheer up families in need over the holidays, keep your generosity of spirit going and turn your next holiday MNO (Mom’s night out)  into a charitable one with this stellar idea.

Or, looking to give back and volunteer during this season of giving? Here are 3 fantastic Phoenix-area volunteer opportunities where you can help others this holiday season:

A Place to Call Home

Founded with the intent to make a difference in the lives of children and adults with special needs and disabilities, A Place to Call Home serves families through their locations in Mesa, Tucson and Prescott Valley. You can get involved by providing assistance with set up and decorating activities at agency events, and around the holidays, host a toy drive to provide gifts for children in foster care, or purchase a gift from their Amazon Wish List for a child in care and have it delivered to one of A Place to Call Home’s locations.

Ryan House

The Phoenix-based nonprofit offers respite, pediatric palliative care and end-of-life care to children in addition to therapies and activities in a home-like setting. Ryan House has many volunteer opportunities: part of their Care Team, which assists clinical staff with needs of children and families staying at Ryan House, or you can assist at events or working on projects.

Save the Family

For 30 years, Save the Family Foundation of Arizona has offered resources for homeless families through comprehensive programs and services. They provide housing assistance, youth programs including school support and extracurricular activities, and career services that help people create resumes, prepare for interviews and searching for a job. During the holidays, Save the Family provides holiday food baskets and gifts for families who would otherwise be unable to celebrate the season.

Think how many Arizona families will feel the warmth and love of a potentially uncertain holiday season if we can all find at least one way to contribute from the ideas shared here. Kindness is contagious.  Live it!
