I Am The Keeper (My Name is Mom)

0

I am the keeper of all things important.

I am the one who knows the kids schedules. School schedules, school holidays, early release, after school activities.

I am the one who knows classroom birthday parties, what gift to buy, our kids birthdays and gifts, what is on the birthday or holiday gift list.

I am the keeper.

I am the one who knows the kids preferences, what they are allowed to eat at school for lunch, who needs a snack, who doesn’t. I know what the kids WILL eat and what they won’t.

I am the one who pays all the bills, knows when they are due, keeps the passwords safe.

I am the keeper.

I am the one who schedules doctors appointments, knows the doctor’s name, knows when shots are due, dentist appointments, status of ongoing medical issues.

I am the one who knows which child needs longer on homework, which one has a project due, what day is picture day, who the volunteers are in the classroom and on field trips.

I am the keeper.

I am the one who buys the groceries, the toilet paper, knows when we need toothbrushes and toothpaste and all the other minutae.

I am the one who comes home from work and doesn’t skip a beat. Launching into my other role. Making dinner, getting homework started and dreaming of bedtime.

I am the keeper.

I am the one who carries the emotional baggage of my babies. Are they happy? Are they loved enough? Is the discipline okay? Could I be doing something more or different?

I am the one who works all the jobs, wears all the hats, does whatever it takes to put my children first, above all of my own needs.

I am the keeper.
