Halloween is upon us and all the little monsters are getting ready for trick-or-treating.  There are lots of fun, safe, family friendly Halloween events & festivals going on around town.  From trunk or treating to hot air balloons to spooky train rides, here is your round-up to all that is going on in Scottsdale and nearby areas. 

scottsdale halloween events roundupOdySea in the Desert: Annual Family Fun Halloween Bash – Sunday, Oct. 27 12pm-4pm.  This event is FREE! Held outside in the OdySea in the Desert Courtyard. Win prizes in the Halloween costume contest on center stage, trick-or-treat for candy from the local vendors, enjoy bounce houses/slides, face painting, live entertainment, family-friendly performances, prize giveaways/raffles and shopping. Scottsdale Family YMCA Trunk or Treat – Saturday, Oct. 19 4pm–7pm.  Spooky fun for the whole family!  Dress up in your favorite Halloween costume and take part in the Scottsdale/PV YMCA’s Trunk or Treat.  Play games, enjoy family time, and get all of your Halloween candy in one safe and fun event!  This FREE event is open to the community, so bring your friends and neighbors!  Visit their website for more details.  

Creepy Candy Crawl – Saturday, Oct. 19 4pm–6pm.  Calling all ghosts, goblins and ghouls to venture out to Desert Ridge Marketplace for an afternoon of spooky surprises during Creepy Candy Crawl! Children and families are invited to dress to impress for this annual Halloween costume contest and trick-or-treating!  This year four lucky contestants will have the chance to win a prize and take home the title for Best family/group costume, 18 & over adult costume, most unique costume and spookiest costume. Winners will be chosen by audience vote, so bring your fan club!  Plus, trick-or-treat from store-to-store, enjoy Halloween themed music, dancing, games, prizes and more!  Visit Desert Ridge website for more details.  

Halloween Spook-Track-Ula – A week long event running from Oct. 25–31 from 6:30pm–9pm.  Stop in for a spell as the Paradise & Pacific Railroad is transformed into a haunted park of fun for a Halloween Spook-Track-ula. The family-friendly event is perfect for the little ones and won’t break the bank. The Train Park will creep it real with the event’s feature, a spooky train ride created with younger children in mind… a bit spooky, but not too frightening. All tickets go on sale October 1. $5 Spooky Train Ride tickets can be purchased in person at the Stillman Station. $15 Fast Pass tickets can be purchased online or at the Stillman Station on the day you attend the event.   • Trick-or-treat stations will be open on Halloween night from 4:30 pm-9:00 pm

Howl-O-Ween at the Zoo – Oct. 25-26, 6pm–10:30pm.  A spooky event for all ages!  Looking for scary tricks?  Scary activities are for guests ages 8 & older who like a good scare.  Are sweet treats more your style?  Merry activities are appropriate for all ages.  Please visit www.phoenixzoo.org for more information on ticket prices, etc.   

Spooktacular Block Party – October 25, 5pm-8pm at the Scottsdale Promenade. This spine-tingling event is full of fun tricks & treats for the whole family!  Wear your best Halloween costume and don’t miss out on this unboolievable event. Enjoy FANGtastic activities like an interactive slime station, pumpkin decorating, face painting, a balloon artist, chair massages, and more.  Event located between Modern Market & Blaze Pizza. Spooktacular Hot Air Balloon Festival – October 25-26 at Salt River Fields.  Over 20 Hot Air Balloons on display and passing out over 4,000 pounds of candy for trick-or-treaters, live music, food and beverage, a FREE Kids Zone, a vendor market, tethered balloon rides, a haunted Spooky trail, fireworks and much more. Howl-O-Ween Party – October 26, 5pm-7pm at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center.  Little ghosts and goblins can trick-or-treat at the wildlife sanctuary by visiting each wildlife habitat where they will receive a treat from the animals. Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and snacks will be provided. There will also be games and photo opps!  This is a self-guided adventure with family-friendly surprises around every corner. The event opens at 5 pm and closes at 7 pm.  Adults and children are encouraged to wear a costume. Join us for a howling good time!  Adults: $30, Children ages 3-12yrs $20, 2 and under free.
