Zoolights: Let It Glow – Now through Jan. 14, 5:30pm-10:30pm nightly. ZooLights shines with millions of lights, a three-story lighted tree, hundreds of glimmering light displays, lakeside Music-in-Motion shows and more!  Visit www.phoenixzoo.org for more details.  

Night of the Three Kings / Noche de Reyes Magos – Jan 6th 5:30 – 8:30pm at Phoenix Zoo. Celebrate Noche de Reyes Magos! This Latino holiday commemorates the day when the three wise men followed the star to Bethlehem and arrived bearing their treasured gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the Baby Jesus. Enjoy a night of live mariachi music, specialty Mexican food, games, activities and a chance to meet the Three Kings! The Three Kings arrive at 6 p.m. on camels. Activities included with ZooLights admission.   

Holiday Lights at McCormick Stillman Railroad Park – Now through Jan 7, 6:30pm – 9pm. The event’s centerpiece is a train ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad through a winter wonderland of lights and displays. Take a ride on the historic Charros Carousel and visit the park’s one-of-a-kind Model Railroad Building. The Holiday Lights train ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad will require a special ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance, during the park’s normal hours of operation. 

National Spaghetti Day – Pick your sauce!  National Spaghetti Day on January 4 recognizes that long, thin cylindrical pasta of Italian and Sicilian origin. Now you know what to make for dinner. You’re welcome!  

SMB Park Hop Playdate – Join Scottsdale Moms Blog on Tuesday, January 9 at Rotary Park in the morning. This is a casual meet up, just a chance for moms to meet and talk while kids have a chance to run around the park. There will be some goodies as well! 

Maricopa County Home Show featuring Tiny Homes – Jan. 12-14 at Arizona State Fairgrounds. Show highlights include Tiny Homes Street of Dreams, Handmade Headquarters, make bath bombs & sugar scrubs, DIY presentations & classes, master gardeners from UofA, landscaping consultations, a presentation about our AZ State Parks, a fun, family-friendly dog show, and wine tasting (yay!). Rock N Roll Marathon – Jan 13-14. Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona is the perfect fun race for locals, snow birds, and New Year’s Resolution setters with distances the whole family can enjoy over a warm holiday weekend. Odysea Aquariums Conservation Expo – Join us for the FREE family-friendly Conservation Expo at OdySea in the Desert on Saturday, January 13th from 9 am – 3 pm. Help celebrate the conservation initiatives of over 30 organizations and learn how you too can be part of the solution. More info here

Sunday A’Faire Minifestivals – Jan 14, 21 & 28 at Scottsdale Civic Park. Featuring free outdoor concerts in Scottsdale Civic Center Park by top Arizona musicians, along with an arts-and-crafts market, fun activities for children and families, and free docent-led tours of the sculptures in the park. Guests are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of great entertainment. National Popcorn Day – This time-honored treat can be sweet or savory, caramelized, buttered or plain, molded into a candied ball or tossed with nuts and chocolate. However, it is enjoyed, enjoy it on National Popcorn Day, January 19th

Paws In The Park – Jan. 20, 10am-1pm at Chaparral Park Off Leash Area 5401 N. Hayden Road 
Scottsdale, AZ. Talk to experienced pet professionals, visit information booths, learn about dog adoptions, get great giveaways and hear a variety of entertainment. Dog food donations will be accepted and will benefit Vista del Camino’s Pet Pantry and rescue agencies. Click here for more details. 

National Hugging Day – Jan 21. If your kids are a Trolls fan the way mine are, then this will be a fun day to celebrate along with Princess Poppy, Branch and the rest of the gang. Don’t forget to sing and dance, too!  

Dinosaurs in the Desert – Phoenix Zoo, ongoing through April 2018. As you embark on this self-guided expedition into the land of the lost, the zoo hopes the dinosaurs will awaken your curiosity to the limitless beauty of nature that surrounds us all. The gorgeous colors and patterns of animals native to Arizona served as inspiration for the design of some of the creatures in this breathtaking exhibit. This will be an unforgettable self-guided expedition back in time you won’t want to miss. There is a separate admission for both members and non-members of the zoo. Tickets for Dinosaurs in the Desert can be purchased online or at the admission booth.
