Five Ways To Entertain Toddlers in the Air Conditioning

indoor activities in Scottsdale
Summer brings a smile to a Mom’s face in most states, but here it’s the dreaded months where we have to find alternatives to the parks we love. Thankfully the Valley is getting better at offering indoor activities in Scottsdale for kids and some even go the extra mile to offer toddler-friendly times. As I prepare myself for keeping a stir crazy two year old busy and entertained this summer, I share five ways to entertain your own wild animals inside.

Tot Town

Shiloh Community Church does an outstanding job of converting their gymnasium into a super fun and super kid-friendly environment every other Wednesday. Imagine bounce houses, play areas, cars to ride, kitchen areas, slides and more. If that’s not enough, they also offer “Mom’s Day Out” alternating Wednesdays so you can get some errands done while your kiddo plays supervised by adults. The cost for Tot Town is $15 per season. You can’t beat the price!

Open Gym at Scottsdale Gymnastics

If your kiddo is 5 and under and likes to jump, run and dive into foam pits, Scottsdale Gymnastics offers a Kinder Open Gym every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12 PM – 1 PM and a Kinder Open Gym on Wednesday from 11 AM – 1 PM. The cost is $5.

Additionally, Rebound Gymnastics hosts a Preschool Open Gym for kids under 5 on Tuesdays from 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM. The cost is $5.

Little Jumpers at AZ Air Time

AZ Airtime is a jumpers paradise and filled with indoor trampolines and foam pits. But kids of all ages can jump, making it hard to have your toddler jump with them. Luckily, they think of everything and they offer a Little Jumpers area! Located in the back, this area offers special trampolines just for little ones and two bounce houses.

Story time at Barnes & Noble

Desert Ridge is filled with kid-friendly activities, including story time at Barnes & Noble! Dates and time vary, so check their website for a calendar of events throughout the month. They also have a cute kid area where your little one can read books and play awhile.

Library Classes through Scottsdale Public Library
The Scottsdale Public Library does an excellent job of offering classes at different libraries throughout the week, so you could almost do a library class every day! Classes vary with some being specifically for babies under 2, story times for all ages, pre-school aged classes and specific pre-school prep programs for children 3 and over that specialize in STEM programs. Most of the libraries have a children’s area with toys and different activities, making this a perfect way to stay cool with your child while keeping them entertained. Visit the calendar for more details.

  1. Does Scottsdale Gymanastics do open gym in the summer? Rebound does not because they do summer camps. Just FYI.

    • Scottsdale Gymnastics does do open gym in the summer, but you have to call in advance to make a reservation because it’s so busy. Calling at 10am is recommended. They do also have summer camps, but the gym is open for the kinder crowd while the campers are on their lunch break.
