Vacation Bible School: 2018 Edition

6

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a summer staple for many families, and churches in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area are already geared up for this summer! We’ve done our best to update the list of local VBS options so you can find one (or ten) near you.

My own VBS memories are not from childhood, but last year, when I served as VBS director at my church. One blessing of leaving my full-time job to stay home is the increased capacity to volunteer in ministry. Being on the planning side of VBS gave me a new appreciation for the heart of this program that reaches so many children and families every summer.

While there are common themes and curricula, every church structures VBS in their own way to meet the unique needs of their community. Program dates, times, themes, costs, and ages vary, offering plenty of options to fit your family’s schedule. Kids can even attend multiple programs and have a fun and new experience each time. Yes, VBS-hopping is a thing!

Kids will sing, dance, do crafts, eat snacks, and generally get worn out having a great time. Most importantly, they will learn about the Bible from servant-hearted volunteers and ministry staff who will care for your kids throughout the week. If your church offers VBS, you should seriously consider volunteering your time in addition to enrolling your little ones. I promise it’s worth it!

Check out the list below to find a VBS near you, and please feel free to add additional sessions we may have missed in the comments section.

Enjoy & Happy Summer!

  1. New Life Community Church in Scottsdale Has morning & evening VBS $5 for a shirt (optional) & same lesson plan as Camelback Bible. My girls attended last year and loved it, super excited about this year too!

  2. Good afternoon,
will like to know if any of the church’s will like to donate or sell any of the VBS “shipwrecked” decoration. Our church is doing the VBS on July 16th and we are looking for any church that will like to sell or donate any left décor or supplies they might have. If you are please email me back as soon as possible. [email protected]

    Blessings,
    Yen
