Besides amazing craft beers, Angels Trumpet Ale House has an eclectic and trendy menu. After choosing six craft beers to try off the craft beer flight, split a Hot Pretzel and be sure to dip it in their home made and local beer cheese. If you are hungry for a full meal, the TV Dinner is fun to try! It features the special of the day, and even a little dessert. My favorite was the not-so-typical Churchill Grilled Cheese. Not only does it have the perfect balance of cheeses and tomato, but it’s finished off with a drizzle of honey and a little side salad. For dessert, we opt for the House-made Pop-tarts, but you will have to ask your server for the current flavor.

If you make it downtown between 3-6pm Monday-Friday, you are in luck to catch Happy Hour. The Artichoke Hummus was fabulous and partners great with the $5 cocktails. I like The Fix, but my husband likes the classic Mule. You won’t hear a complaint from either of us! With such a full menu, there is something to please everyone, but be sure to save room for dessert. The Salted Caramel Pudding is to die for!

Phoenix not only has a Jamaican restaurant, but this restaurant features over 150 premium rums! I don’t know a whole lot about rum, but they offer four different tasting flights to teach you all about the variety of  flavors, aromas and individual characteristics. I like to sample when we head out to a new restaurant, so we opted for the small plates. The Appleton Rum Sea Scallops are delicious and you really can’t miss the Roasted Plantains and Mango Dip. Try the Jerk Pork and Polenta for a main meal to get a real flavor of the islands.

Hanny’s is my all time favorite. It has a Euro class to it that makes me totally relax. Plus the Elderflower. Order a St. Germaine cocktail and it’s sure to not disappoint. You can thank the bartender for me. If we just have a little time before a show, we like to get the Bar Plate. It has a great mix of meats, cheeses, olives, nuts and bread. The Cauliflower Calabrese is unique and has a little kick to it. When ordering more food, we like to share one of their thin crust pizzas and you can’t go wrong with either the Marx, Rocket or Beet Salad. Yummy!

  • Networks
122 North Second Street, Phoenix, AZ

Networks is kind of your typical bar and sports grill found inside the Hyatt Regency, featuring American favorites, but the best part about it is location! Directly across from Symphony Hall, you can pop in and out either right before or after a show or on your way to any of the local stadium games. They do offer Happy Hour from 3:30-6:30, Monday-Saturday, and if you head over after a show, you are sure to run into some of the performers, which is fun, too. It’s quick, easy and you can’t beat the location.

  • The Strand
    2 E. Jefferson St. #113, Phoenix, AZ 85004

We just love Italian and I tend to judge a place by their Tiramisu. The Strand’s is awesome and well worth a stop at only $6 before heading home. Happy Hour ends early, from 2-5pm, Monday- Friday, and we’ve actually never made it there in time! If you do get there in time for dinner, the pastas are classic. Next time we are there though, I’d love to try the Lobster Mac and Cheese.
