With all the craziness that occurs during the holiday season, we can sometimes forget our fur babies! For us, Andy (our Border Collie mix) was our first baby. We adopted him when he was 5 and he has truly been the best dog ever. He watches (and herds) his sisters and gives everyone in the family so much love. It’s only fair that he gets a stocking too – outfitted with some treats and toys!
As part of our Small Business Saturday gift guides, here are some local shops that will help you find the perfect gift for your pet:
- Oh My Dog Boutique offers designer options for collars, carries, beds, and accessories (the Chewy Vuiton bed cracked me up). There is even a spa menu for some pampering!
- Bonnie’s Barkery in Cave Creek offers a ton of treat and food options as well as merchandise such as collars, pet beds, and toys.
- Dog’s Etc. in Old Town prides itself on finding unique gifts for your furry friends including healthy treats.
For some stocking stuffers, Wag n’ Wash offers freshly baked treats (and birthday cake!) and BuzzBerry – a favorite neighborhood spot – offers homemade Buzzbones (which are some of Andy’s favorites).
If you are looking to give back, the Arizona Animal Welfare League is selling calendars, the proceeds of which go to provide shelter and medical treatments to thousands of homeless animals and they also have a Medical Miracle Fund that accepts donations! And don’t forget John Jay and Rich’s (from local station 104.7) Love Pup shirts.
Also deserving of a special mention is the Etsy shop TheLandlockedDogTwo. Last year, my in-laws lost their German Shepherd, Lexie and we were able to give them a beautiful pet remembrance piece for Christmas. Something hand stamped and personalized is always a much-loved gift!
If you have any other favorites I missed, please add them below! I hope your pets enjoy the holidays too!
