Easy Glitter Play-Doh for Us Less-Pinteresty Types

0

So, it’s still hot out. (That’s the jist of how I start every blog post for SMB. You’re welcome.)

Some of us have preschoolers who don’t begin school for a few more weeks… The bigger siblings who might be marginally helpful at entertaining said preschoolers are headed to the classroom and mamas be like: What do I do with you, remaining and busy little child?? Ain’t no way I’m pulling out that stupid Costco craft jar again. Learned that lesson well and good the first time around….

ENTER: homemade glitter play-doh! (and all the angels sang!)

Have you made this before? Dude, it’s so easy. A Pinterest mom I am not, but even I can do this. Kiddos can help; if your infant chows some when you aren’t looking, it’s mostly okay; and {{if you don’t overcook it!!}} you just about can’t mess it up.

Heya go!

glitter Play-DohMix in a medium saucepan:
1 C white flour
1/4 C salt (not kosher!)
1 Tbsp. oil
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 C water
2 tsp food coloring
1-2 tsp glitter

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly — for like…… not very long. 2 minutes? ish?

Basically, when it just starts to hold together and seems like a globby mess and you desperately want to keep cooking it but your psyche is screaming at you to cease and desist and you’re like I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO, MAN!!!, count to 5 and then STOP! Stepppp awayyyyy slowwwwlyyyyy.

Dump it out onto a lightly floured surface to cool, then give it a quick knead, pull out the cookie cutters – and turn it over to your kid! Store in an airtight container, and send me fan mail.

Cheers!
