Local Getaway: Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North

staycation

Being an Arizona native, I’m certainly no stranger to a staycation to get out of the heat. Thank you to Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North for providing my family a quick getaway so I could check out their family friendly offerings. While they provided an overnight stay and amenities for my family, all my opinions are my own.

From the moment we checked in, I felt like I stepped back in time. The Four Seasons Scottsdale is off the beaten path, nestled into the desert. The natural landscaping makes it easy to believe that you are miles away from civilization. My 4 year old was super excited about all the cacti (she had been learning about them in preschool that week), and delighted when the friendly desk clerk gifted her a stuffed javelina at check-in. The bellman that helped us to our room said that sometimes the real local javelinas like to make early morning appearances on the property.

Once we got to the room, I was happy to turn the air conditioning down and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. My little one had other ideas, so we decided to check out the property. The grounds are beautifully kept. We took a look at the pools, and located the three restaurants. We had reservations for dinner at Proof, but the steakhouse, and poolside dining looked nice too. Soon it was time to head back to the room to get ready for dinner.

The open room concept of Proof is very fun. There was live music, table games to play, and I was grateful for the mild weather so we could sit on the patio where it was a little calmer. We started with pretzel rolls that were equal parts light and fluffy with just right amount of salt, and drinks that were handcrafted by one of the top bartenders in Phoenix. The menu is based on comfort foods around the country. I went with the lobster roll, my tiny companion went with the mac and cheese. For dessert we went with the special of the day, and ice cream with M&Ms on top (I’ll let you guess who ate what).

This spicy mango drink was refreshing

We woke up early enough to have breakfast in the room before we headed the pool. I love how the hotel has embraced technology; I downloaded the Four Seasons app onto my phone, and was able to place our room service order directly from the app. The view from the room was so pretty; we decided to enjoy breakfast on the patio. I would have been happy to linger on the patio and enjoy my coffee, but I did promise E that we could take a trip to the pool.

There are several pools, but we set up camp at the children’s pool which is only one foot deep and perfect for my preschooler to splash around in. She loved being able to touch the bottom of the pool, and practice all of the swimming skills she’s been working on in swim lessons. There are also child sized chaise lounges for sunning, and she had her own hotel robe to wear if she got cold. If she were a bit older, she could have participated in the Kids For All Seasons program that they offer daily for kids 5-12. They also offer dive-in movies at the pool every Saturday night!

Thanks again to Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North for a great night away!
