Summer’s heating up and so should your dates nights…or date days. This month I’m planning our next date and thinking outside the box a bit. I know I get tired of the ol’ dinner and a movie date. How about you? With summertime here let’s try to check off two boxes on our next date…get in shape and spend some time with your SO! I’ve come up with a list of date ideas and activities to get your sweat on with your boo and have fun too.

Hot Yoga + Acai Bowls

Not only will you release stress and get a great stretch, but you’ll also get to check out your partner attempting their best downdog! Yoga is known to increase endorphins, the happy feeling hormones, and stimulate blood flow. (All good things for activities at home behind closed doors…wink wink!) Deep breathing helps to release stress and even 5 minutes of meditation a day has proved to improve overall health. Mom and Dad can definitely benefit from this date!

After class, fuel your body with something healthy and delicious from Nekter Juice Bar. Choose from juices, smoothies, bars and bowls. My personal favorite is the Pitaya Bowl. It’s cooling for the body, healthy and it looks pretty too!

Indoor Cycling + Happy Hour

Indoor cycling is a great way to get your adrenaline fix indoors, get sweaty and burn some serious calories. The newest cycle house, CycleBar, has popped up in McCormick Ranch. CycleBar is just one of many locations to open in the greater Phoenix area. Check out RPM if you’re further north.

After you’ve shed a few pounds, catch a happy hour, like the the one at Paul Martin’s. Their daily HH includes offerings like wild fish, grass-fed beef, and local and seasonal produce. My favorite lunch dish is the Kale Caesar Salad with Wild Salmon.

Barre + Brews

Ok, so at first your guy may not be totally on board with this workout, but after an hour of sweat and shakes at the barre you’ll both walk out feeling strong, stretched and refreshed. Check out barre3 for one of their “Man Up to the Barre” events. This event caters to couples, because those who shake together stay together!

Afterwards, meet up at O.H.S.O. Brewery for a manly meal and brew. Find balance after refining your backside and fuel up on O.H.S.O.’s Brisket Mac ‘N Cheese that’s oh so good for your soul!

Next time you roll out your mat or lock in your clips remember what they say…”those who sweat together, stay together!”
