Superstition Farm

The hint of Fall is in the air and, thanks to the cooler weather, I can’t wait to do all of the fun outdoor activities we have been missing for months. The kids have been itching to go to the park every day. I’ve filled up the tires of the jogging stroller and bicycles. And I might even see my neighbors again after ages of barely a glimpse of anyone in our cul-de-sac.

As I gear up for our desert version of the Midwestern Spring thaw, I came across the perfect activity to do with my family to get us in the Fall mood. In Mesa, there is a locally-owned family dairy farm called Superstition Farm. They have tours available on Saturdays (check out their website for times and all other details, like the good advice to wear closed-toed shoes). The tour includes everything you wanted to know about where your milk comes from and a hayride with lots and lots of cows to see. Plus you get a cup of farm fresh milk to drink at the end of the tour. There is also a little petting zoo for the kids to cap off their fun farm experience. My kids do love all things farm related, so they had a blast checking out a real working farm.

Superstition Farms also has a great gift shop and boutique. And the best part for mom and dad is their fresh milk, cheese, butter and ice cream available to take home. With flavors like herb d’ provence cheese, bacon butter, and chocolate birthday cake ice cream you may come to the farm for the kids but leave with something delicious for yourself. The flavors change regularly, so there is a great reason to come back often to check them out.

If you can’t get out to the Farm but want to try their milk, cheese, butter or ice cream, they do have a store in Gilbert, Udder Delights, which sells their fresh dairy products. This is also a great way to support our local Arizona businesses!
