Can’t Clean Your Dishes Without It

13

This is a public service announcement.

Seriously, what kind of a friend would I be if I withheld VALUABLE information about cleaning?  If you know me, then you will know that I’m pretty mellow and “relaxed” about what “clean” means.  To me, clean mean sanitary.  I like it when things are clean and even orderly.  It is so peaceful.  *sigh*

However, upon moving to Scottsdale FIVE YEARS AGO THIS MONTH, I’ve constantly been shocked at how poorly the dishwashers have worked in the places we’ve lived.  The newer ones seems to work well enough, for a time.  It wasn’t until we moved into our latest home back in October that things got out of control.  I mean EVERY dish in our house was COMPLETELY COVERED with a white film that wouldn’t come off with the hardest scrubbing on my part.  (And, let’s be honest, once I’ve run a load of dishes I don’t exactly have tons of motivation to wash them all by hand.)

I’d had enough.  Not only was I ready to buy all new glasses, dishes and silverware, but I was embarassed to invite people over for fear that they’d see my nasty white-filmy dishes.  EWWWW.  I let my landlord know about the problem because I’d tried everything from Jet Dry to LemiShine and NOTHING was working.  My landlord sort of insulted me with, well, it sounds like “user error” which, made me wonder how that could even be possible… and then informed me of the most wonderful product that everyone in Scottsdale (without a soft water system) should know about: Dishwasher Magic.

Dishwasher Magic is a dishwasher cleaner that is more than magical, it saved my dishes and my sanity.  The little miracle bottle is available at Walmart in the same isle where you find JetDry and other dishwasher products… but you have to look REALLY HARD because this stuff is so popular that it’s hard for them to keep it on the shelves.  In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s completely necessary to have in a Welcome Basket for anyone moving into the area.  The water here is full of minerals and is pretty hard, so unless you have a water softener, you’ll be buying this product at regular intervals.

You’re welcome.

(P.S. I know it sounds like I’m doing a product review – which, I suppose I am, but that is really how it all went down and wouldn’t you just hate me if I kept this little cleaning secret all to myself?)

**Nobody paid me to say these nice things about Dishwasher Magic.

  4. Oh my goodness…I thought I was the only one with the nasty white film on my dishes! So glad to read this, Joy, and to know that there is something that works! We are getting a new dishwasher soon, so that plus this product will bring back our sanity! Thanks!

  5. I SERIOUSLY was JUST emptying the dishwasher loathing the white film and wonder what on earth would get rid of it. Constant problem. THANK YOU. I’m totally trying this. xo

    • PRETTY PLEASE let me know if it works for you!!! Hope so! (Oh, and I also found that AFTER I used DM that running a load of dishes with LemiShine helped to get all of the nasty whiteness off my glasses

  6. holy cow. I am going out as soon as the baby wakes up. We’ve tried everything. The repairman said the dishwasher is a lemon but cant be replaced because it’s past the warranty. I am going to go try this and see if it helps.

    • I hope it does! You may want to call your Walmart and make sure they have it in stock before packing up all 4 kiddos! xoxox

  7. Have you tried the Tide Washing Machine Cleaner??? Equally as amazing as Dishwasher Magic only for the washing machine. I have a front loader so I get that white film on the inside of the door and I’m sure it’s all over the barrell too from our nasty hard water. It’s fantastic 🙂 Thank you ALWAYS for good cleaning tips!
