Scottsdale Cooking Club | Favorite Brunch Recipe

1

Hello SMB readers, thanks for having me!! I am Moriah, and I am doing a guest post about our wonderful Scottsdale Cooking Club. Our fellow SCC blog writer, Mandi, was unable to attend our last meeting, so I agreed to step in and let you all know what a wonderful time we had.

Our theme for this week was Favorite Brunch Recipe. Sweet or savory, I was ready to indulge. As with every week, the recipes never cease to amaze me. Each wonderful gal in our group has a knack for creating masterpieces. We had an fabulous array; from quiche to french toast, fruit salsa to buttermilk caramel syrup, we all walked away feeling like brunch is the best “meal” of the day. (Even when enjoyed after 7pm).

I think each person in our group would agree, the dish that stood out to all of us as one of the best of the night was the Ebelskivers. (thanks Jordan!) I honestly had no idea what these little pieces of heaven were before I came to our meeting. I saw it on the list of foods that were going to be there, and I had to google the recipe just to see what we were in for. Ebelskivers are traditional Danish pancakes, but in the shape of a donut hole. The ones we enjoyed were smothered in butter and cinnamon sugar, a perfect pair if you ask me. I definitely went back for seconds on this one! I can’t wait to find an Ebelskiver pan to bake in, I would love for them to become a traditional breakfast food in our home. Many of the women in our club have made them for special occasions with their families, and they all seem to have great memories of growing up and baking Ebelskiver’s.

My second favorite recipe (picking favorites is one of the hardest things to do on a night like this) was the Buttermilk Caramel Syrup. Not your typical syrup, but almost better than any syrup I have tasted. I poured some over my little french toast strips, then went back for more just so I could slurp up more of the syrupy goodness. This recipe would be great on just about anything; pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or just eating it with a big ‘ol spoon.

This week could easily be one of my favorite recipe nights we have had thus far. I love brunch, I love the women in the group, and I love to eat! So until next time, enjoying salivating over these wonderful recipes!
