Being a Working Mom (Part 1)

1

I am beyond thrilled to be able to introduce myself to you! My name is Jessica Williams and I am a wife, mother, and business owner with our own photography business as Session Nine Photographers. I have been so blessed to have been asked by Joy and Stephanie to share my thoughts, experiences, encouragement, and tips for working and stay at home moms. Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done. Being a stay at home working mom is equally the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Through my own experiences, I’ve found that women aren’t really talking about the true honest emotions about how hard being a working mom is. I’ve found that there’s a lot of women dealing and struggling with comparison, mom guilt, resentment and jealousy within their lives and trying to balance it all. I am not a pro at this, by any means. But I am passionate about encouraging women to live their best possible lives and to be the best possible mom that they can be, no matter how different it looks from one mom to the next! And no matter how much is truly on your plate each and every day.

In this series, I am going to be talking about several different aspects of the difficult side of being a working mom. All of these topics are areas I’ve navigated in my own life and have worked on to make my life as a working mom, ‘work’ for me. These topics in my series coming up are going to include You Are Not Failing, Organizing Your Home Life, Making Your Marriage a Priority, Spending Time With Your Kids Guilt Free, Making Time for You, and Actually Getting Your Work Done. I cannot wait to encourage you in this venture of motherhood and to share with you my story, my struggles and my victories that I go through as a full time working/stay-at-home mom! It’s not an easy job- like I said, it’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I know it is for many of you too. And in a world where it’s very easy to feel like you need to pretend like all is well, when really you’re drowning inside, it’s so important for you to know that you are not alone. I am excited to talk to you about what being a working mom looks like for me in my life and everything I’ve learned in this journey already!

My husband Jason and I have two little boys, Cruz (2.5) and Rider (6 months) who have absolutely changed our lives in all the best ways possible. We live in Scottsdale, which is where I grew up, but we just moved back as a family almost a year ago. Jason and I are full time photographers with Session Nine Photography, photographing Weddings and Lifestyle Sessions locally as well as nationally. Jason also works at Scottsdale Bible Church as a Worship Pastor for Soma Young Adults and for High School Ministry. Having grown up in Scottsdale from a very young age, I really love living and raising my own children in Scottsdale. I love getting out in the city and I’m always looking for new things to do! I am passionate about being a mom and empowering women to find what they are passionate about and to live it out. I am inspired daily by women who are hard workers, who love their family and who remain true to who they are.
