Babysitting in Scottsdale Part 2 – Do you refer your babysitter to friends?

2

Last time we talked about the cost for babysitting these days… but since we already determined that you are paying your sitters ca$h money, let’s explore another facet.  If you like your sitter, do you refer them to your friends?…

Not as often as you may think.  Nearly 40% of Scottsdale Moms Blog readers do not freely share their babysitters with other families!  What is going on here?  Are you surprised?  I was.

Some moms mentioned that they have lost a few sitters by sharing their names.  Here are a couple ways to keep the peace when asking a friend for a babysitter referral:

1.  Be sure to understand the frequency the referring family calls on the sitter (do they go out every Friday night? Saturday?  Is she their regular sitter?)

2. Consider the other family before asking the sitter back.  Just like in sales, when someone starts competing for business, fighting over a babysitter can also breed competition and hurt friendships.  So, even though it may be “too careful” to ask permission to call on the same sitter a second time, open communication can save friends.  (And I need all the friends I can get.)

3. Play nice.  If you ask and your friend says “no thank you” then honor her wishes.  Don’t be “that guy.”

Now that that’s settled, next time we will look at How To Organize a Babysitting Co-op!  Fun!

Just for fun:  Can you name the movie poster displayed in the photo above?  (Post best guess to comments.)
