Friday Date Night: Special Occasions – Trader Vic’s

1

We’re back for the final week of Friday Date Night, Special Occasions edition.  If you didn’t get a chance to see the past 2 week’s posts Click Here for Week 1 and Click Here for Week 2.  As I said the last couple week’s, with so many restaurant’s to choose from it’s hard to determine where to go for those special date nights.

To finish this series I’ve picked one of our favorite places to go for a special event.  What’s better than a local restaurant that makes you feel as you’ve flown thousands of miles away? This week’s restaurant is just that. With giant carved wooden tikis and palm leaf lampshades spread throughout this modern restaurant, Trader Vic’s (Scottsdale) provides a great local escape for a fraction of the price (and by that I mean that you’re not buying a plane ticket :)). Upon entering the front doors you really do feel as if you’ve stepped off of a plane in the South Pacific. Who doesn’t want that??!

But that’s not all – their menu is very much drool-worthy (how does a lady say something like that!!?).  Be sure to start with something from their drink menu.  The vintage drink menu is filled with fruity, alcoholic concoctions like the Mai Tai (the signature drink, invented by Victor “Trader Vic” Bergeron himself) or the Peach Tree Punch. Their menu features a good variety of appetizers, some cool, summery salads and more than 30 entrees.  For your main course you MUST order an entree that’s prepared in their world-famous Chinese wood-fired oven, where meat, fish and fowl are slowly roasted to perfection.

All in all we would give Trader Vic’s 5 stars *****.

Steph’s Fri Date Night Pick:  Want to check out Trader Vic’s but not too crazy about the regular menu prices?  Word on the street is that Trader Vic’s Happy Hour is AWESOME!  Appetizers for $1, $2 and $3 – count me in! Who wants to meet me there?

  1. Love your concept for a local Arizona blog. Such fun! I even saw you walking around BBC with your tee-shirt on and was intrigued. Just sorry that we didn’t connect in person when we had the chance.

I came here from the Bloggy Boot Camp Mr. Linky today, but didn’t see your post. Did I miss it? Let me know if I did. Would love to read your thoughts!
