McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

Scottsdale is full of wonderful parks to explore with our kiddos.  It’s so refreshing to retreat to green grass and trees to escape from, well, the desert.  Anytime I come upon a field of grass, my first impulse is to take off my shoes and get tickled by the cold blades.  I remember doing this hundreds of times as a kid back East and time-travel back to my 6-year-old self whenever I have the opportunity to do it as a grown-up.

A little wonderland full of squishy-green-grass (as most Scottsdale Moms know) in our own hood is McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park affectionately known as “The Train Park.”  Our own little amusement park offers a big staging area for imaginations to run to the Wild Wild West.

My Reagaroni is still too young to fully appreciate this Scottsdale treasure, but I look forward to taking her on her first train ride, or riding the carousel for the first time.  For now, we can go to “The Train Park” and enjoy the grass and the shade and watch the families stroll on by.

Up coming events at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park:

Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 11:00am-2:00pm.   Exclusively Little is an event for kids 6 years and under and is FREE. The activities include game booths, moon walks, face painting, petting zoo, health demonstrations and entertainment! Children: bring your favorite stuffed animal and enter it in the Stuffed Animal Contest. Prizes go to the most loved, cutest and best dressed.

Train rides are $2 and carousel rides are $1. Children age three and younger ride free with a paying adult on either ride.

Sounds like a great time!
