My Hair Story | Phoenix Brazilian Blowout

Steph right before her treatment

So I have to start out by saying, I love my curls. It’s taken me a very long time to get to this point, but I no longer long for straight hair (Okay, maybe every once in awhile). It takes me literally 2 minutes to do my hair everyday. We don’t even own a hair dryer OR brush.

So when Salon Di Vita (a locally owned Chandler Salon of 10 years) offered me the opportunity to try a Brazilian Blowout Treatment, I decided it might be worth taking them up on the offer. Hey – I couldn’t pass up this treatment that so many of Hollywood’s beauties are ranting and raving about!

So just a couple weeks back I sat down with Vinny of Salon Di Vita and we began the treatment.

Here’s a rundown of what happened (for those of you who are interested)…

BEFORE Picture - sorry about the pic but you get the point - LOTS of frizz

First, he took me to the shampoo bowl to wash my hair with the specially formulated Anti-Residue Professional Shampoo to prepare my hair and get out all the hair product. Ladies – he washed my hair with this shampoo 4 TIMES!!  I’ll be honest with you – I wash my hair 1x every other week.  So this was a massive clarification 🙂 Think no oil – which translates into dread locks for this mama.

After towel drying, he began to comb the Brazilian Blowout Professional Treatment through each section of the hair, lightly coating each section with the solution. It was hard for me to believe that after that kind of washing there was any way my hair was going to come out of it’s Bob Marley state – but it did!

AFTER - crazy straight, huh?!

Then he took out his round brush and went to work with the blow dryer. Once my hair was dry, Vinny used a titanium flat iron (450 degrees ladies) to straighten my hair. The last time I blow dried my hair straight was 5 years ago – so it was super strange to see myself with straight hair but it felt so soft and was incredibly shiny.

I was not quite sure about the straight-haired look (and neither was Nora – she seemed scared actually), but it didn’t last long anyway. Vinny took me back to the shampoo bowl where he rinsed it and applied the Brazilian Blowout Masque to further seal in the professional formulation.

I went home that night eager to see what my usual routine and products would do to my new hair the next day.

Three Weeks after my Brazilian Blowout

Ladies – let me tell you – I was shocked at how much more shiny and how frizz-free my hair was (and still is) as a result of this treatment.  To put it to the real test I went to the CA coast the following week just to see how my hair would react to the humidity.  I was so impressed that I had to text Vinny while on the beach because my hair had still maintained it’s shine and was frizz-free.  Yahoo!

This treatment could be a lifesaver, especially for people who straighten their hair on a regular basis. Vinny, who does several Brazilian Blowouts a week, said his clients have been overwhelmingly happy with the results.  He is so passionate about the treatment that he currently teaches for Brazilian Blowout.

I have to say I’m with Vinny – I’m a believer after this treatment!

  1. It looks beautiful! Straight or curly, your hair is great! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but it’s quite the investment.

  2. I’m glad you embrace your curls. Not to many women do, however, love the transformation from the Brazilian Blowout. Liquid Keratin is also great for smoothing hair and doesn’t use any harsh chemicals.
