holiday pie

‘Tis the season for festive everything. Festive play dates, festive family gatherings, festive decor, festive clothes and of course festive food! Whether you’re hosting a family holiday, attending a party, or simply like to have some sweets around the house (see my hand raised here), the Valley is full of shops filled with treats that will let you enjoy the sweets without breaking a sweat (and making a messy kitchen). In honor of the most festive time of year, allow me to give the gift of sharing my ten favorite local spots for pies!

Rock Springs Cafe

Located just north of town in Rock Springs, this is worth the drive to pick up a delicious pie. Pre-ordering pies is a must because they will be wiped clean the week of Thanksgiving. They are known for their Jack Daniel’s Pecan Pie and offer a variety of other pies, including Pumpkin of course! During your visit, you can enjoy a quick bite at their cafe and do some shopping in their general store while you wait. Click here for details.

Wildflower Bread Company

Pies are just one of Wildflower’s specialties. They offer everything under the sun, including Thanksgiving Day catering. Some of their holiday offerings include pumpkin cinnamon bread (yum), Cranberry Walnut Batard Bread, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Apple Pie and Roasted Nut Pie. Click here to place your order.

Tammie Coe Cakes

If you haven’t tried one of Tammie Coe’s famous cakes or spectacular cookies, you are missing out and now’s your chance to serve her pie at Thanksgiving! Tammie is accepting orders for her pumpkin pie, pumpkin butterscotch bread pudding, sour cream apple pie and more. Click here to order.

La Grande Orange

LGO is my happy place. You can get lost daydreaming through their aisles of adorable gifts, while smelling the aroma of fresh baked bread, pastries, pizza and sandwiches. Stop into LGO for a minute of R & R and order one of their holiday offerings that include Deep Dish Apple Crumble Pie, Cole’s Deep Dish “Can Free” Pumpkin Pie and Deep Dish Bourbon Pecan Pie, just to name a few. Click on menus for the complete list (including catering options).

Chef Beckett’s Fig & Pecan Pie

Chef Beckett is no stranger to the Phoenix foodie scene and his well-known restaurants (Beckett’s Table & Southern Rail) are always serving some of the most delicious food in town. During the holidays, Chef Beckett is accepting orders for his famous Fig & Pecan Pie. Call or stop by one of his restaurants to place your order by November 20.

Pie Snob

Bakeries who serve mouthwatering desserts can add “snob” to their name with pride. Pie Snob is one of those spots. Pie is in their name, so it’s no surprise that they offer a large selection. Some of flavors include classics like Pecan and Apple pie, along with unique flavors such as Green Chili Apple Pie and Sweet Potato Pie. Click here for a complete menu.

Phoenix Public Market

Located in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, this quaint local market (and home to the very popular Open Air Farmer’s Market), will be offering their homemade pies for order. Mouthwatering options include Bourbon Pecan Pie, Apple Crumb Pie and Pumpkin Pie, all created by one of the most buzzed about young pastry chefs in town, Sarah Chisholm (who used to be a professional ballerina!) Click here for details.

The Farm

Have you been to The Farm at South Mountain? If the answer is no, then grab the kids and take a field trip this weekend. It’s an adorable farm where kids can play while you sit at one of the picnic tables and enjoy a sandwich from their cafe. They also have a beautiful restaurant that is perfect for a date night. The Farm sells mini pies every day at their cafe, but you can also place an order for a large pie for the holidays. Click here for details.

Sassy’s Cafe & Bakery

You may have seen Sassy’s on the Food Network and just take one bite of their food and you’ll know why. They are famous for their cinnamon rolls and just as well known for their sweet pies! Click here to place an order and if you really want to wow your family and friends, place an order for their cinnamon rolls to serve in the morning.

The Four Seasons

You don’t have to be a guest of this five star getaway to still enjoy their award winning food. The Four Seasons is accepting orders for “Pies ‘n Sides” which allows you to order their amazing food to take on the go and serve as your own at Thanksgiving! Click here for all the juicy details.

Cookie Bonus

Along the lines of sweet treats I love, The Baked Equation, they create the cutest (and very delicious) cookies, custom made to your theme. Take a look at her website for all of her adorable creations and pricing. Adding adorable cookies to your holiday table is always a must in my book!
