Let’s Get Ready to Make Some Summer Memories!

Summer is Coming!

May is the month that starts the summer fun around here! Just before Memorial Day most of the schools close their doors for summer! Yippee! As we approach the end of another school year we (yes, you and I) need to find something to do with our children!

Who wants to have a “Super” Summer? I do!

Last year, my family kicked off the great summer celebration by attending the 2013 Phoenix Comicon at the Phoenix Convention Center. {For info about this year’s Phoenix Comicon in early June, click here!}

My kids had a blast dressing up as their favorite characters, and they were lucky enough to meet a few “real” heroes, too!

Fun in the hot, hot, sun!

Our hot summers are clear indicators that we need to find water to cool off! I am so grateful to have a home that has a pool in my backyard, but if you are looking for a place to swim, there are plenty of public pools around town that offer swimming at inexpensive prices. The local high school or Fitness Center or Luxury Resorts (Scottsdale has plenty of them!) offer beautiful pools to swim, lay in the sun, take lessons, and well, just make great memories with your children!

Plan Ahead!

The best thing you can do to prepare for summer is to plan ahead. Start researching options for summer memory makers now! If you are planning to go on vacation out of town, you may want to start reserving those plane tickets, rental cars, and hotels right now for the best rates. Other (cooler) places know that summertime is a huge money-maker for in-season leisure, so make your dollar stretch by getting ahead of the game! {Remember, July is coming!}

Get in the Game!

Don’t forget about all of the local places to visit if you plan to do some “staycationing” here. We have our local baseball team (go Dbacks!), museums, candy factory, pretzel factory, outdoor entertainment venues, and much more. Plus, it’s always nice to invest in our local businesses and support our home state!

The Goal of Summer

Let’s not forget the goal of summer: to relax and have fun. Whether you stay at home or travel abroad, make sure that you are making summer memories for your children. They are not going to remember all the minute details that you do, but they are going to remember that you were with them, loving them, and showing them how much you care because you spent time with them!
