Happy Mother’s Day, Valley Moms!

Hopefully your kids and spouse are making you feel like a million bucks this weekend. Have you ever wondered what the greatest unpaid gig on the planet is really worth? Here’s the math on the salary a mom really deserves.

This is a beautiful essay and it spoke to me this week as I battled more sleepless nights with a nearly one-year-old. Lessons from a Sleeping Baby.

Thanks to one of my favorite writers and tweeters Kristen Chase of Motherhood Uncensored for making me realize that as hard as these early years may be, it’s going to get even harder! Yikes!

On a (much) lighter note, two Mother’s Day YouTube videos for you. First, a tribute to TV moms that will bring back some familiar faces from the 70s, 80s and 90s. And second, while AMC’s Mad Men has been on hiatus for way too freaking long a while, Betty Draper’s Guide to Parenting is guaranteed to make you feel like Mom of the Year (which, in our humble opinion, YOU ARE).

Sarah Powers is a writer and Scottsdale mom of two. She came to the valley from Southern California by way of Chicago and would take Arizona summers over Midwest winters any day. A perfect day for Sarah starts with coffee, ends with chardonnay and includes lots of baby giggles and sticky-fingered kid kisses in between. She loves high ponytails, showtunes and using her kids as an excuse to stay in and go to bed early, which she would do anyway. Sarah tweets early and often about the messy, tender, fun, funny and irreverent moments of parenthood at www.twitter.com/powersofmine.
